Development: In addition to the usual design and development tasks, for the Detector Unit our involvement included; researching and specifying the complex, internally mounted, multi adjustable gimble mechanism. Minimising FFE development times and associated costs, Product Partners' lateral thinking resulted in the discovery of the perfect component from the standard parts catalogue of the BMW car company!
This wing-mirror component provides automatic adjustment of the infrared beam ensuring perfect alignment of opposing detectors as the walls of huge logistics warehouses contract and expand during seasonal changes.
The complex assemblies of the 16 components were created in SolidWorks and extensively prototyped using www.oglemodels.com to prove the fit and function of the parts prior to sign-off for the manufacture of production tooling.
